England senior teams enter Europe! - October 14, 2016

We are very pleased to announce the news that England has now entered Senior men’s and women’ s teams, along with 2000 age group junior teams, in the 2017 EU Nations Water Polo Cup. The senior tournament will take place in May in Poland for the men, and in the Czech Republic in July for the women. There will also be U21 entries in due course.

Ian Elliot, Chairman of the England Water Polo Management Group is clear that the return of England Senior teams to international competition marks an important milestone in the rebuilding of senior representative water polo in England following the disbanding of both the men’s and women’s GB senior teams following London2012.

Ian said, “The England Water Polo Management has long held the view that the restarting of England international senior polo is an essential step to establishing a new GB senior program, and will provide the missing element of the pathway for English athletes between the GB junior performance squads and the eventual GB senior polo program.”

England Water Polo Management have indicated that further details about the Senior squads will be publicised in due course, and we will bring these to you on Water Polo England as soon as they are available.
