Welcome to the April edition of the monthly Club Newsletter with stories from around the country.
We start with many congratulations to Solihull Water Polo and London Otter, 2018 men’s and women’s Super 5s winners respectively, and a big thank you to the British Water Polo League for delivering another fantastic season.
In really exciting news, the British Water Polo League has announced a major coup for the sport by securing live coverage on Sky Sports of the finale of the Women’s and Men’s Super 5s which took place at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School in Elstree, Herts. Sky Sports will be showing the highlights of the BWPL Super 5s on Monday, 16th April, starting at 6pm on Sky Sports Mix.
New dates and channel for the Sky Sports Super 5s coverage are:
Sky Sports Arena HD Saturday, 5th May Men’s – 7pm Women’s – 8pm
It would be great if as many people as possible could tune in for what promises to be exciting television.

Manchester Hawks are celebrating winning the BWPL Championship 3 trophy with 7 wins from 7 matches. Very well done to them and their coach, Dan Paddon.
City of Manchester Boys u17A have also qualified for the Swim England Water Polo National Age Group Championships finals after wins over Sheffield and Leeds to head group A. Bridgefield finished top of Group A.
Bolton School under 15s won the school’s 12th consecutive English Schools Water Polo Title this month. This age group has now won the title at both U/13 and at U/15. Fantastic job!15s with the English Schools Trophy school’s 12th consecutive English the title at both U/13 and at U/15
Congratulations also go to St Michael’s CE Primary School who won a Mini Water Polo Festival. Ten primary schools from ATSA took part in the event. Well done all.
City of Manchester are running beginners water polo sessions for adults. If you are interested the sessions take place on Mondays from 9-10pm at the Manchester Aquatics Centre. The first session is free and then its £25 for 6 weeks.
Are you looking to improve your skills and free over Easter, then this London Water Polo Camp at Whitgift School, South Croydon may be for you; full contact details below.
A little later in the year there is an interesting opportunity during the May half term. An elite Water Polo Skills Camp is taking place on 30-31 May at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys School. The event is for boys and girls born 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. At the end of the camp there will be a talk from coaches who really know the American Collegiate System about applying to college in USA. Please see contact details below.
We can also bring you news that the Malaysian Amateur Swimming Union is organising a Commonwealth Asian Water Polo Club Tournament in the town of Ipoh starting on Friday 25th May 2018 and finishing on Sunday 27th May 2018. The competition is divided into 3 categories:
The cost of entering the tournament is USD $2,500.00 per team covering transport from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Ipoh and back to Kuala Lumpur International Airport or any other destination in Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Accommodation and Breakfast. This is the cost for the team covering 16 people. Each club is responsible for their flights from the UK to Kuala Lumpur. For lunch and dinner, the cost per person is around USD $10 per day.

Finally big congratulations to London Otter, England and GB player Kathy Rogers, currently a freshman at University of Michigan, who has been named ‘Rookie of the Week’ by the nationwide American Collegiate Water Polo Association. Well done, Kathy!
