BRONZE! England U17s win the bronze medal at the EU Nations Junior Women’s Tournament after an outstanding 16-3 (5-1, 2-1, 3-0, 6-1) victory over Denmark. The podium finish was fully deserved as England performed superbly throughout this competition and only narrowly missed out on a place in the final.
Head coach Sarah Dunsbee looked on proudly as her talented youngsters collected their medals and remarked that this has been an excellent experience for them all ahead of this year’s European Championships in Volos, Greece (1st-8th September)
“This has been a great tournament for us. The gap between the top three teams has been narrowed and our results show this,” said Sarah. “Going forward, we need to play high level games and as soon as this year’s NAGs are finished, the team will be training hard and preparing fully for September. “We will also be playing high quality games to bring the girls up to the level of European polo.”
It was great to hear from some of the team after the event, interviewed here by Brian Poole
Massive congratulations to all the squad and coaches and a huge thanks to all the travelling support here in the stands and back home. Click here to see all the pictures and video clips from the event at our Water Polo England Flickr account
