Welcome to our October Club News!
This month marks the end of the summer holidays, the return to serious training and the start of the new British Water Polo League season.
As part of their warm up for the new BWPL season a number of the elite English women’s clubs competed in the EU Nations Women’s Water Polo Cup hosted by the Czech Water Polo Federation in Prague. City of Liverpool led the way taking silver position, Otter took bronze and City of Coventry came in 8th. A great weekend of quality polo played against top competition. The weather wasn’t bad either!
Colchester Water Polo club travelled to Lisbon in early September where they played two tough games back-to-back. The team from Essex drew one and lost one but had a great tour, which adds to the many enjoyable overseas trips the squad has made in recent years.
The annual Army Water Polo Tournament took place this month with the UK armed forces team hosting the event in Aldershot. Watford, Southampton and Worthing were invited to compete with Watford taking the top spot.
City of Watford is celebrating two massive results becoming the London League Division One champions for Under 15s and Under 13s. What talent for the future!
The Sean King Shield Water Polo Kent Tournament took place on 14 September. This annual event saw Beckenham take first and second place with Aqua Hythe coming in third. Well done!
Bristol and West Water Polo organised an under 15 Tournament in which City of Bristol, Cheltenham, Devonport Royal, Taunton Dean and the Welsh Wanderers took part. Some fantastic games but there could only be one winner. Congratulations to Devonport Royal who took the top slot.
City of Manchester organised its second annual outdoor sponsored swim with club members braving the chilly waters of Sale Water Park to raise funds.
Congratulations to Northampton who are winners of the 2007s London League.
Bristol celebrated the end of the summer with a fantastic social and beach water polo event at Portishead Lido. Great pictures guys!
We note that there is a new Volunteer Vacancy is being advertised for the South East Swimming Women’s Water Polo Developer. The role is to help grow and develop the Region’s offerings for Women’s Water Polo. For further info please email waterpolo@southeastswimming.org.
We would also like to remind you that a Table Officials course is being run at Haberdashers School in Watford on 19/20 October – details below. Do attend if you can – we need table officials to run matches.
