It’s an Olympic version of our newsletter this month! -

There’s one main focus for polo fans this month this year, and it’s of course the Olympics in Paris. So, in a special Paris 2024 Olympic version of our newsletter we have put together a short guide as to when the men’s and women’s polo matches will be played and how (for the cost of a cappuccino) you can watch the Olympic polo in the UK.

Sadly of course we don’t have Team GB polo representation in Paris this time around, but let’s not forget that under the leadership of Head Coach Nick Buller and Assistant Coach Peggy Etiebet, this year our senior Great Britain women came from nowhere in Europe to be in contention for Olympic qualification with their amazing back-to-back performances at the 2024 European Championships in Eindhoven where they finished 7th, and then again at the Water polo World Championships in Doha.

For a complete online guide to all the polo games to watch in Paris from 1st August, please check out the official site here.

We have also created a printable version for anyone who prefers to look at a paper guide rather going on online which lists all the matches from 1st August onwards. To access the printable guide please click here.

(Please note that all the times quoted on our guide are local Paris times, UK time is one hour earlier)

So that’s what to watch, but the main issue for us in the UK is how to watch the Olympic polo. Unfortunately there is no coverage of the polo in the UK on any free-to-air channels and that appears to include the BBC. Therefore the only way to watch the polo is on Discovery plus, which involves paying for the coverage. We note that we have found an introductory offer from Discovery plus of £3.99 per month which covers the Olympic period and there is more information about it here.

And for those of us who object to putting our hands in our pockets yet again, if you have any suggestions about Olympic polo viewing please post them in the comments below, especially if they involve viewing the polo for free (and are legal!)

We finish with what will be a surprise for many polo fans, as we note that Swim England is currently advertising for new Head and Assistant Coaches for both the senior men’s and women’s GB teams. So if you are inspired by the Olympic polo and fancy stepping into the shoes of Buller and Etiebet, now is your chance…

There are always a lot of travelling GB polo fans at big tournaments so we hope to see you in the stands during the event!
