Long serving international Team Manager, Eileen Selvey has announced her retirement from England and GB duties. Eileen has finished on a career high as part of the team, including HC Nick Hume and AC Sue Webb, which managed the very successful GB U17 junior women’s team which secured an outstanding 6th position in the recent 2017 European Junior Championships, including a last gasp win over the hosts and international water polo powerhouse nation, Serbia.
Ian Elliot, Chair of the England Water Polo Management Group expressed thanks on behalf of the whole sport to Eileen who has been a stalwart of representative junior polo teams for many years.
Ian said, ‘As a self funding sport we are completely dependent on amazing volunteers like Eileen to run all aspects of our game. Eileen has contributed hugely to the development of the many junior athletes whom she looked after over the years and we owe her a big debt of gratitude. We will miss you, Eileen, and wish you all the very best for the future.’
