Game 1 v Slovakia
Great Britain’s U17 Junior Men started their European Championships Qualifying campaign on Thursday with a 15-12 (4-2, 3-1, 4-3, 4-6) loss to Slovakia.
Bridgefield’s Tom Davis, who is also the team captain, top scored for Great Britain with an impressive five-goal haul, while Malta-based Alastair Cook, who plays for Neptunes, fired in twice.
Hucknall’s Sam Leveridge, Worthing’s Henry Broadhurst, Stirling’s Murray Dickson, Manchester’s Rob Bentham and Cheltenham’s Louie McKie also scored one apiece.
Next up for Tim Dunsbee’s squad is Latvia on Saturday morning, 8.30am start (UK time), followed by Poland on Saturday afternoon, 5.30pm start (UK time).

Game 2 v Latvia
Great Britain’s U17 Junior Men beat Latvia 20-9 (2-1, 6-2, 7-0, 5-6) in their second game at the European Championships Qualifying Tournament in Malta. A strong first three quarters saw Tim Dunsbee’s side take charge and build an unassailable lead, and now the squad turn their attentions to this evening’s crunch clash with Poland, 5.30pm start (UK time). Against Latvia, captain Tom Davis led the scoring with six goals, while Alastair Cook (4), Peter Ash (3), Sam Leveridge (3), Murray Dickson (2), Harrison Walsh (1) and Toby Chilcott (1) also found the net.

Game 3 v POL
Great Britain’s U17 Junior Men lost to Poland 16-10 (4-2, 4-2, 4-0, 4-6) in their third game at the European Championships Qualifying Tournament in Malta.
Tim Dunsbee’s squad gave their all, but it wasn’t to be as a more clinical Poland gradually took the game away from Great Britain in the first three quarters.
Captain Tom Davis, Joe Carolan and Toby Chilcott all scored twice, while Alastair Cook (1) Henry Broadhurst (1), Indigo Nash (1) and Rob Bentham (1) also fired home.
Great Britain’s final qualifying game is against the hosts Malta on Sunday morning, 10.30am start (UK time).

Game 4 v Malta
Great Britain’s U17 Junior Men finished fourth at the European Championships Qualifying Tournament in Malta after losing their final game 15-5 (3-1, 3-0, 5-3, 4-1) against the hosts on Sunday morning. The squad’s fate was already sealed after the losses to Slovakia and Poland, and today’s clash was always going to be a difficult way to end their campaign.
Murray Dickson and Alastair Cook both fired home twice, with Rob Bentham scoring our other goal, but Malta eased to victory after building up an 11-4 lead going into the final quarter.
Lessons have been learnt and great international experience for all the squad, who – with the right backing – all have a bright future in the sport ahead of them.
Congratulations to Malta and Poland for qualifying and good luck to both teams in this summer’s main tournament.
