Ian Elliot, Chair of the Water Polo Management Group, is delighted to announce that a senior international men’s game, England v Scotland, will take place in Sheffield on Sunday Feb 11th 2018 and would like to thank the British Water Polo League for hosting the match at Ponds Forge during a BWPL Super 5s weekend. The provisional start time for the game is 15:15 on Sunday, following the BWPL Women Super 5s matches earlier in the day.
Fans will remember that in their last encounter on 13th May 2017 in Manchester, England’s senior men’s team emerged the victors, narrowly beating Scotland 13-12 on penalties, and an exciting game is in prospect this time around with Scotland no doubt looking to settle the score.
Ian sees this game as an integral part of the England senior men’s squad preparations for the 2018 Commonwealth Water Polo Championships to be held in Malta 23rd – 30th September, remarking that, “Once again we see the British Water Polo League leading the way in their support for water polo in the Home Nations; providing outstanding organisation and demonstrating their willingness to go the extra mile to promote the elite aspects of our sport.”
More information, including team selection, will be released shortly
