Summer is over, but the fun continues in our October club newsletter! -

Summer is officially over and, although the water polo league season has just begun, there is plenty of news to catch up on!

The EU Nations Club Water Polo tournament took place between 21st and 23rd September in Prague, Czech Republic.

The women’s final was an all-English event with City of Coventry taking on City of Liverpool! This is an amazing achievement which demonstrates that English women continue to fight for their place on the international water polo stage. The final score was City of Liverpool 9 – 5 City of Coventry.

A special congratulations to Katie Hesketh, who was awarded player of the tournament.

Two English men’s team also competed in the EU Nations. Solihull came second overall, competing in the final but missing out on first place against a strong Los Angeles (!) side. Cheltenham also performed well, coming in fourth place.

Jake Vincent from Solihull also deserves a special mention, after being awarded player of the tournament.

Well done to all players and teams that competed in the tournament. You represented your clubs well and made England Water Polo proud.

Congratulations to Hinckley Water Polo Club, who are celebrating after being crowned Midland League Handicap Cup champions after winning the final against City of Coventry.  Final score was Hinckley 24 – 18 City of Coventry. Well played, all!

Solihull Men are having a very successful year, one of three teams shortlisted for Team of the Year at the Birmingham Sports Awards. This is an incredible, considering it covers professional as well as amateur teams. The Awards Ceremony will take place on 10th October. Congratulations and good luck to all!

Well done to the 22 hardy City of Manchester Water Polo club players and supporters who swam in the club’s first sponsored open water swim to raise funds for the club.

And finally, there are several exciting upcoming events and camps!

Warrington Swimming and Water Polo Club is hosting the Cheshire Mini Polo Festival on Saturday 20th October for boys and girls 2006 and younger. For more information and to register, please email Musgrove.ian@gmail.com.

London Water Polo invites you to join their Autumn Water Polo camp at Whitgift School in South Croydon. Camps will be held 25th-27th and 29th-31st October.
