August is traditionally a quiet month on the domestic competition front as teams enjoy some downtime in advance of the start of the BWPL in September. It is great to see that many teams have been on tour. Six players from Newton Abbot were invited on a trip to Ter Apel in the Netherlands to play in the 53rd Zepta Water Polo tournament with Devonport Royal. Over the weekend the girls played in a number of matches with the Devonport Dragons coming first place in their group,
Welcome to our August News. Although this is calm period before the start of the BWPL in September, clubs have been busy playing friendly matches with neighbours and embarking on overseas training camps. July also saw the military Inter Services Water Polo Championships. Congratulations to the Army who were this year’s worthy women’s champions with a team that included seven newly capped players.
There was an upset in the Men’s game as the RAF defeated the Army who were the defending champions in an exhilarating match that ended 15-13 to the RAF.
