GBR U19 Junior Women European Championships Netanya Israel July 2022 Results

Great Britain’s Junior Women lost their first game at the European Championships 8-13 (1-3, 4-5, 2-3, 1-2) against Ukraine.
Holly Toone top scored for Great Britain with a hat-trick, while Matilda Dugdale (2), Catherine Du Toit (1), Philippa Danielson (1) and Lucy Bullock (1) were our other scorers.
Great Britain’s Junior Women suffered a heavy 30-3 (7-1, 7-1, 7-0, 9-1) defeat to one of the tournament favourites Netherlands in their second game at the European Championships on Tuesday.
The clash proved to be a steep learning curve for Simon Tomlinson’s players, who will now look to finish the group stage with a victory against Portugal on Thursday, 8.30pm start (local time).
Against a dominant Dutch squad, Great Britain fought throughout and goals from Philippa Danielson, captain Rachel Tibke and Holly Toone offered brief moments of respite against the orange tide.
Great Britain’s Junior Women will face Slovakia in the 13th-16th place play-offs at the European Championships after losing 9-22 (0-5, 1-6, 4-7, 4-4) to Portugal in their final preliminary match.
After three defeats, Great Britain finished bottom of Group D, scoring 20 and conceding 65.
Firm favourites Netherlands finished top with three wins from three, while Portugal were second on six points and Ukraine third with three points.
Against Portugal on Thursday evening, Catherine Du Toit fired in a well-taken hat-trick and Caitlin Silk (2), Philippa Danielson (1), Harriet Dickens (1), Matila Dugdale (1) and Holly Toone (1) were also on target.
Great Britain’s Junior Women have narrowly missed out on a top-14 finish at the European Championships after losing a close and fierce battle with Slovakia 15-14 (3-6, 4-2, 6-3, 2-3) on Friday morning. Simon Tomlinson’s squad got off to an absolute flyer in the first eight minutes, racing into a 0-4 lead and were 3-6 up by the end of the quarter.
But Slovakia fought back in the second and cut the deficit to one at the turnaround as the momentum began to swing in their favour, before taking a 13-11 lead going into the fourth.
Great Britain were struggling in front of goal, as they tried everything to level the scores, but it wasn’t to be as Slovakia agonisingly closed out the final stages to take the one-goal victory.
Caitlin Silk and Lucy Bullock both fired in hat-tricks, while Harriet Dickens (2), Catherine Du Toit (2) Kelsy Evans (2), Matilda Dugdale (1) and Holly Toone were also on the scoresheet.
Following Germany’s withdrawal due to COVID, it means this was Great Britain’s final game of the tournament and place 15th overall.
